Bio

I am a practising Registered Osteopath, Sports Massage Specialist and Personal Trainer, with over 15 years of experience within the health and fitness industry. Educated at the universities of Surrey and Birmingham, I have worked with athletes from national level clubs (e.g. England Touch and Surrey County Cricket) and international athletes from solo sports. I have been fortunate enough to work in landmark venues including Old Trafford and Stamford Bridge and at a host of events from the London Marathon to the Crystal Palace Triathlon.

Over the course of my career, my professional interests have developed thusly:

As a Personal Trainer I focused on athletic performance;

Sports and Remedial Massage Therapist nurtured my taste for injury rehabilitation and recovery;

Being a Registered Osteopath I apply a more holistic approach to treatment by considering health within work, exercise and other life contexts.

Movement therapy is now key to my approach in Prevention over Cure.

The techniques I use during treatment depend on patient requirements and include Deep Tissue, Trigger Point Therapy, Lymphatic Drainage, Myofascial Release, Muscle Energy Techniques, Exercise Prescription, Dry-Needling, K-Taping, and occasionally High Velocity Thrusts – the things that make you go ‘POP’.

Massage and osteopathy work on the nervous, circulatory, muscle and joint systems of the body. By releasing tight tissues, body mechanics function more efficiently, blood delivers nutrients more effectively and waste removal occurs more freely, resulting in body-wide health improvements, including digestive, hormonal, respiratory and excretory functions.

In the spirit of the Latin origins of the word ‘doctor’ (docere – to teach) I offer alternative perspectives to those whom I treat. The advice that I provide is based on evidence and I will never inflict a technique upon any body which I would not be prepared to have inflicted upon my own, i.e. I have experienced first-hand the full range of massage and mobilisation treatments at my disposal.

My personal interests include rock-climbing and electric bass guitar, but first and foremost I am a family man having entered fatherhood in late 2016. I have recently been offered a place on the prestigious Osteopathic Leadership Programme, bringing together the major osteopathic organisations in the UK and working on a number of projects to support the long-term development of osteopathy.

I am a dedicated practitioner and look forward to working with you in health and fitness. For insight into literature which has inspired me, please visit my blog
